June 2025 update

2 July 2025

At the Council meeting on 17 June 2025, Council considered and noted the Reynella Sports Complex Master Plan including the Background report and Final Master Plan report. Council also noted that that individual projects in Reynella Sports Complex Master Plan will be the subject of further investigations and community consultation where required, dependent on broader community impact, and, that a clubroom upgrade project will be added as an addendum to the Master Plan and considered as a medium to long term project.

The Reynella Sports Complex Master Plan has been prepared to inform planning and advocacy for future investment in sport and recreation facilities at Reynella Sports Complex. The Master Plan responds to current and projected population and sports participation growth and the demand for sports facilities in the district.

The Master Plan:

  • Identifies short, medium and long term priorities for the site with preliminary cost estimates
  • Represents a balanced approach based on club, peak body and community aspirations considering strategic approach (district level need and demand) and financial responsibility
  • Confirms asset renewal requirement over time and balances these with new infrastructure proposals

Major initiatives proposed as part of the Master Plan include

  • New sports lighting – completed November 2024
  • Renewal and relocation of existing cricket practice nets and increase the number of nets from three to six – completed February 2025
  • Reconstruction and reconfigurations of six netball and tennis hard courts
  • Additional two unisex changerooms incorporating DDA compliant public toilets
  • New netball and tennis amenity building
  • Improved car parking and vehicular access to the ground
  • Improved spectator viewing areas
  • Refurbished main clubroom to improve functionality including new outdoor decking area
  • Consolidation of site storage facilities
  • Upgrade of oval irrigation system
  • Realignment of main oval playing surface to meet AFL Preferred Community Facilities Guidelines
  • A clubroom upgrade will be added as an addendum to the Master Plan as a medium to long term project

The Master Plan is not a commitment from council to fund in-part or in full any identified projects. It is a guiding document that will provide opportunities for council, the clubs, and State Sporting Organisations to collaborate to deliver projects when funding opportunities arise through advocacy or external grants.
