The project was officially launched on Friday, 29 November 2024, by the Member for Mawson, Leon Bignell MP.

This 800-meter shared-use path connects the McLaren Vale township with Tatachilla Lutheran College, providing a safe and accessible route for families, students, and the wider community. The path begins at the intersection of Caffrey Street and Tatachilla Road in McLaren Vale, running west along Tatachilla Road and under the Victor Harbor Road bridge to the College.

The project was made possible through $1 million in State Government funding, with support from Leon Bignell MP and the Tatachilla Lutheran College. The college’s involvement was key in bringing this vision to life, ensuring a safe and healthy transport option for local students and families.

The new path features a 2.5-meter-wide sealed surface with additional rubble shoulders where needed. It addresses a critical safety gap by providing a safe connection adjacent the busy roadway, which previously had no safe pedestrian or cyclist access.

We hope this new pathway encourages active and sustainable travel while improving safety for everyone accessing Tatachilla Lutheran College.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation in delivering this exciting project.
