Construction is underway!

Work began on the shared use path mid-February 2024.

In August 2023, we sought feedback from the community on the proposed design. Over 500 people visited the Your Say page and we received over 60 comments and questions. Feedback showed support for the project, however some concerns were raised regarding vehicle speed, path safety, extending the path and design. We'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback during the engagement.

We are pleased to advise that a speed limit reduction has been approved by the Department for Transport and Infrastructure. This involves a speed change from 70km/h to 60km/h along a section of the pathway, including the pedestrian crossing and Caffrey Street intersection. This change will coincide with the construction of the path. Read the Engagement outcomes in the Updates section for more and view the Final concept plan.

Construction

The project is currently scheduled to commence in mid-February 2024.

Work will be undertaken between 7am-5pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

It is anticipated the construction work will take up to 20 weeks to complete, subject to weather and events outside of council control.

There will be traffic management in place during the construction phase.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation in delivering this exciting project.
