Background

The Urban Creek Resilience and Recovery project will restore waterway health and create a more appealing natural environment along 5.3 kilometers of Panalatinga Creek and Serpentine Creek and some of the tributaries that run through the suburbs of Happy Valley, O’Halloran Hill, Reynella East, Old Reynella and Woodcroft.

The creeks are currently degraded and face many common challenges resulting from urban development, such as pollution, erosion, silt deposits, localised flooding, loss of native vegetation, and invasion by exotic weeds.

These creeks are of high value. We recognise they are popular places with community members and groups, they provide important habitat for native wildlife, and we respect the traditional Aboriginal cultural landscape they are part of. This project will ensure the creeks and their surrounds are healthy for future generations of human visitors and the animals that visit and live there.

We will work with community members and groups through the various stages of this 5-year project
