We are excited to provide an update on the next stage of the Wearing Street Precinct Redevelopment project at Port Noarlunga which will create a cultural node at the base of the coastal dunes.

This area is important to the Kaurna People and, as part of recognising this, Council has taken the opportunity to engage with Kaurna representatives to design and establish a coastal themed, cultural feature.

With support from the state government’s Department for Housing and Urban Development the cultural node will feature:

  • Public art sculpture celebrating the cultural significance of the area.
  • Meandering compacted sand and concrete path network.
  • Timber seating logs and rock boulder seats.
  • Large feature boulders with carved artwork framing a circular congregation space.
  • Revegetation planting.
  • Screening to border a section of land at the Mann and Wearing Street corner.

The design of the space and artwork has been developed by a consultancy team that includes a First Nations cultural creative/artist.

We look forward to delivering these enhancements for the community as part of the Wearing Street Precinct Redevelopment project with construction expected to commence early 2026.
