Progress update June 2024

15 August 2024

We've made significant progress on the Witton Bluff Base Trail Project.

Boardwalk

We're currently installing the footings for the boardwalk. The footings for the embayment are complete, and we're continuing work on the southern and northern limestone shelves. The first batch of Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) materials has been delivered and is being stored off-site. Most of the boardwalk's sub-structure is made from FRP because it's durable and requires little maintenance, which is perfect for coastal conditions. We're also working off-site on the steel and stainless-steel parts of the boardwalk. Next month, you'll start to see the boardwalk take shape above ground.

Seawall Repair Works

We've put out a tender for the seawall repair works and will engage a contractor soon. These repairs will start towards the end of the year, giving the boardwalk contractor time to finish their work and allowing time to gather the large amount of rocks needed for the repairs. Our application for more funding for the seawall from the Australian Government's Disaster Ready Fund has moved to the next stage of assessment.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we progress with the project.
