Murray Road reconstruction – budget confirmed and works moving ahead

We’re pleased to let you know that funding for the Murray Road reconstruction has now been confirmed as part of Council’s 2025–26 Annual Budget.

This means that final design and planning works are progressing, with construction proposed to begin in August, subject to weather and external factors permitting.

Council resolved in March 2025 to proceed with Design Option B, which incorporates several changes based on community feedback, including adjustments to rain gardens and improved driveway access. This design aims to:

  • improve the road surface
  • install a new footpath on the southern side
  • clarify on-street parking
  • provide a safer, lower-speed environment through targeted streetscaping elements

  • Thank you again to everyone who contributed their thoughts throughout the engagement process—your input helped shape the final design.

    • Rain gardens and trees will be planted along the road.
    • Parking bays will be built.

7 on the north side and 32 on the south side.
    • Some areas will be marked as no stopping zones to help traffic flow safely.
    • Better lighting will be added to make the road safer at night.
    • Safe crossing areas will be built at the Witton Road end.

Some of the footpaths and kerbs that are already in good condition will stay the same.
