Refurbishment complete - the curtain rises on a new era

The transformation is complete – and the Hopgood Theatre is once again ready to take centre stage.

After a major $6 million refurbishment, the much-loved Noarlunga venue reopened with a sold-out gala evening hosted by Amelia Ryan and Michael Griffiths and featured a lineup of South Australian artists to showcase the refreshed look, enhanced facilities and renewed creative energy. A free family fun day entertained hundreds of attendees, who flocked to explore the transformed space, including behind-the-scenes backstage tours, performances and short-film screenings and hands-on workshops.

The upgrades include improved sound, lighting and acoustics, upgraded bathrooms, expanded accessibility, new front-of-house and bar areas, and upgraded backstage and rehearsal spaces designed to support performers and productions of all sizes.

The works also introduced a new flexible performance space, giving artists and audiences more ways to experience live theatre in an intimate setting.

The project was made possible through a $6 million investment from the South Australian Government, reflecting the value placed on the Hopgood as a cultural and community cornerstone for the southern region.

With the refurbishment now complete and a full program of shows and events on the horizon, the Hopgood Theatre is ready to welcome audiences back through its doors.
